New Start Time 22-23

Dear Families,

As you may or may not be aware, the district began to shift school start and end times this past school year in response to the transportation crisis across the city. In preparation for the upcoming school year, the district began to shift start and end times again to create uniformity across the district. In speaking informally with parents/guardians and reviewing district surveys on before and after care needs, it was made clear that the change from an 8:30am to an 8:45am start time this past school year created a challenge for many of our working families. In response to this feedback, the district proposed several options, and we ultimately were able to negotiate a 8:15am start time. This will allow our students who receive transportation services to continue with this continuity and provide support for working parents, most of whom have to be at work by 9:00am.

 

Beginning August 29, 2022, our new school hours are 8:15am-2:54pm. If your child would like breakfast, they should arrive at 8:00am. HERE is a list of after care providers that pick up at our school. You are welcome to add others to this list; please have that provider email me directly so I can review our safety protocols and procedures for dismissal.

 

Another friendly reminder that the first week of school is a half day for kindergarten students ONLY. This is to allow families to engage in the kindergarten interview individually with teachers. Kindergarten parents/guardians should pick up their child at our half day dismissal time, which is 11:54am.
